Professor Kabir Olawale Paramole of the Department of Religions and Peace Studies has been elected as the new Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Lagos State University, following an election held on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, at the New TETFund Postgraduate Hall 1 on the University's Main Campus in Ojo.

Paramole secured 51 votes to defeat Professor Isaac Adeniyi Yekini Ajenifuja of the Department of Music, who polled 47 votes, in a keenly contested race that recorded 3 void votes out of a total of 101 votes cast.

Announcing the result, the Deputy Registrar/Faculty Officer and Returning Officer, Mr Samuel Gbedozin, declared Paramole duly elected as Dean designate of the Faculty of Arts.

Paramole, a Professor of Islamic Ethics and Contemporary Studies, currently serves as Editor in Chief of the LASU Journal of Religions and Peace Studies, a peer reviewed publication of his Department focused on theological, ethical, and philosophical dimensions of religion. He is also the author of "Scholarly Insights on Islamic Ethics," published in 2016.

The outgoing Dean, Professor Ayo Ayodele, will complete his tenure on Friday, 31 July 2026, after which Paramole is scheduled to assume office on Saturday, 1 August 2026.

Speaking after the election, Ayodele congratulated the Dean designate, expressing optimism that his tenure would further advance the academic excellence and development of the Faculty of Arts.
