NELFUND has resumed disbursing upkeep allowances to eligible beneficiaries under the Federal Government's Student Loan Scheme, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, has confirmed.
Akinteye disclosed this in a post shared on his official X account on Thursday, assuring students that the payment process has officially resumed and would continue until all outstanding beneficiaries receive their allowances.
"It is official, NELFUND upkeep payments have resumed," he wrote, noting that the update followed confirmed developments regarding the scheme and dismissing concerns over recent delays.
He added that NANS would continue providing students with verified information, stressing that the association remains committed to sharing only confirmed updates on issues affecting Nigerian students.
The confirmation comes shortly after NELFUND dismissed a viral social media notice claiming that upkeep allowance payments for the 2025/2026 academic session had been suspended, describing the document as fake and urging beneficiaries to disregard it.
The resumption is expected to provide relief to thousands of students who depend on the monthly support to meet living expenses while pursuing their education.
