The University of Abuja has inducted 285 postgraduate students into its Centre for Gender, Security and Youth Advancement for the 2025/2026 academic session, with the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Dr Maryam Ismaila Keshinro, among those admitted.

Both public officials enrolled for Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Commonwealth Youth Development Studies, joining other students admitted into the Centre's Postgraduate Diploma, Master's and PhD programmes in Commonwealth Youth Development Studies, Gender Studies and Social Work.

Speaking during the induction ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, urged the newly admitted students to uphold honesty, discipline and academic excellence throughout their studies.

He reminded them that the matriculation oath represented a commitment to integrity, cautioning that the University would not tolerate any form of academic misconduct.

Fawehinmi described integrity as the foundation of quality postgraduate education and research, encouraging the students to remain focused as they contribute to knowledge in gender, youth development, security and social welfare.

The induction officially marked the commencement of academic activities for the 2025/2026 postgraduate cohort at the Centre, a specialised academic unit established to promote research, policy development and capacity building in gender, youth and social development.
