MOUAU Admission Requirements 2025/2026 Session

Below are the admission requirements for UTME and direct entry candidates for the 2025/2026 academic session.

JAMB Candidates

  1. The minimum age requirement for admission into Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), is 16 years.

  2. Admission into undergraduate degree programmes is primarily through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). To be considered for the post UTME admission exercise, candidates must obtain an acceptable score in the UTME.

  3. In addition to the UTME score, applicants must possess at least five (5) credit passes in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent, obtained in not more than two sittings. These credits must include English language and mathematics, along with other subjects relevant to the candidate’s intended course of study.

  4. Candidates applying with qualifications such as a diploma or NCE must have obtained at least a lower credit to be eligible for admission consideration.

  5. For the Bachelor of Agriculture (B. Agric.) programme, applicants must have five credit passes in SSCE/WASC/GCE O-Level, including:

    • Chemistry

    • Biology or Agricultural Science

    • Mathematics

    • Physics

    • English Language

  6. Every applicant must have attempted both physics and mathematics at the O-level.

Specific admission requirements for individual programmes may vary and can be updated periodically by the University Senate. Candidates are advised to consult the university registry or JAMB admission brochure for the latest programme requirements.

Direct Entry Requirements

  1. Direct entry admission into MOUAU is based on a combination of O-level results and acceptable higher qualifications, such as

    • OND/ND (Distinction)

    • HND (Credit)

    • NCE Double Major (Credit Level)

    • OND/ND (Credit)

    • NCE Double Major (Merit Level)

  2. Candidates with OND/ND distinction, HND credit, or NCE double major at credit level may be admitted into the 200 level, while candidates with OND/ND credit or NCE double major at merit level may be admitted into the 100 level.

  3. Applicants with an ND certificate and a minimum of Upper Credit, in addition to the required O-level credits, are normally admitted into the 200 level. Candidates with HND qualifications may be admitted into the 300 level, except those applying for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programme.

The duration of study for Direct Entry candidates is shorter than that of UTME candidates. For instance, while a UTME candidate spends five years in the B.Agric. programme, candidates admitted through ND or HND may complete the programme in four or three years, respectively.
