Rules and Regulations in MOUAU Hostels
Students are not allowed to use gas cylinders, kerosene stoves, or electric cookers (hotplates) inside the rooms. This is to prevent fire outbreaks.
If you are caught selling or transferring your space to another student, you will lose the room and face disciplinary action.
Allowing a friend to live in your room without them being officially allocated to that space is illegal.
All hostels have strict visiting hours, usually ending by 7:00 PM. Opposite gender visitors are usually only allowed in the common area,s not inside the rooms.
Any damage done to any of the school properties in the hostel must be replaced.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I apply for a hostel if I haven't paid my school fees?
A. In the current portal workflow, you must pay your developmental levy and get departmental clearance before the hostel payment option is activated. Usually, hostel fees are paid before the main school charges.
Q. Is the MOUAU hostel allocation compulsory for freshers?
A. There is no strict rule that freshmen should stay in the hostel.
Q. How long does the allocation last?
A. Your allocation is valid for one academic session (two semesters) only. You must reapply and pay again for the next session.
Q. Can I use a gas cylinder or an electric cooker?
A. The university has a rule that cooking with gas, kerosene, or high power electric heaters is a fire hazard and can lead to immediate eviction.
Q. Can I change my room after I have been allocated?
A. Official room swaps are rare and usually require a very strong reason (like a medical condition). You would need to write a letter to the Dean of Student Affairs.
Q. What should I do if my room has a broken fan or light?
A. Report it immediately to the Hostel Porter. Do not try to fix electrical issues yourself.
