Who Can Register for NECO SSCE Internal 2026?
Only students in SS3 are eligible for the examination. No private candidate registration is allowed for the SSCE Internal examination.
NECO explained that the examination is meant for school based candidates only. Candidates must belong to recognised schools either in Nigeria or approved overseas centres.

Step 1: Access the School Portal
Existing schools should log in using their current details.
Schools having login issues can use the “Forget Password” or “Dispute” option.
New schools must first claim their portal using the official school email address and phone number. Personal email addresses are not accepted.
Step 2: Install the NECO Offline App
Schools should delete the old offline application and install the 2026 version from https://neco.gov.ng/exams.
Using the offline app, schools will:
Enter candidate biodata
Upload passport photographs in school uniform
Input candidate NIN
Select subjects
A candidate will only receive a registration number after the offline entries are uploaded online successfully.
Step 3: Validation and Biometric Capture
After entering candidate details offline, schools must validate all information before uploading.

Passport photograph
State and local government area
NIN
Schools must also capture the fingerprints of all ten fingers using the approved biometric scanner.
NECO warned that duplicate registration will not be accepted because biometric details are unique.
