The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State has pledged closer collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps to safeguard corps members serving across the state, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to their safety.
The assurance came during a courtesy visit by the leadership of NYSC Ondo State, where discussions focused on strengthening existing security arrangements, improving intelligence sharing and deepening institutional cooperation for the welfare of corps members.
The Commissioner explained that the command remains fully committed to protecting corps members throughout their service year, stressing that the safety of young graduates serving the nation remains a priority.
He revealed that the command would continue deploying proactive policing strategies, intelligence led operations and regular patrols around orientation camps, corps lodges and places of primary assignment to prevent security threats.
According to him, effective collaboration between the Police and NYSC has continued to enhance security for corps members while creating an enabling environment for them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Commissioner urged corps members to remain security conscious, obey safety advisories and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest security agency, while also encouraging cordial relationships with host communities, noting that community based intelligence remains one of the most effective tools in crime prevention.
NYSC officials commended the Ondo State Police Command for its sustained support, describing the partnership as essential to the successful implementation of the national service programme and expressing confidence that continued collaboration would further strengthen the welfare and security architecture surrounding corps members in the state.
The meeting also underscored the importance of regular engagement between security agencies and NYSC in addressing emerging security concerns and ensuring prompt responses whenever challenges arise.
The renewed commitment comes amid growing national attention on corps members' safety, with the Ondo State Police Command having intensified intelligence driven policing and coordinated patrols in recent months as part of broader efforts to tackle criminal activities and maintain public safety across the state.
