Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi State, has graduated 12,256 students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at its combined 8th, 9th and 10th convocation ceremony, held at its main campus in Gadau, as the institution marked 15 years of academic growth and expanding global partnerships.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, used the occasion to highlight the university's research, accreditation and infrastructure milestones. She disclosed that of the 40 academic programmes offered by the university, 38 have secured full accreditation, with the remaining two on interim status. She added that 17 academic programmes were recently accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), affirming the institution's commitment to quality education and high academic standards.

On research development, Tahir revealed that SAZU had accessed 148 Institutional Based Research grants from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) since 2023, in addition to winning two National Research Fund grants.

The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the institution's growing international collaborations, including partnerships with Don State Technical University in Russia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Sunway University in Malaysia. The university additionally maintains a fellowship agreement with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations and is affiliated with Project ECHO at the University of New Mexico, USA.

At the national level, SAZU has established formal collaborations with the National Pension Commission, the Nigeria Revenue Service, the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, and the African Population and Health Research Centre.

On infrastructure, Tahir commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his continued support, particularly the construction of internal road networks at the Gadau Main Campus. She noted that the state government had proposed additional projects including the construction of hostels and road networks at the Yuli Campus, completion of perimeter fencing across three campuses, development of staff housing in Gadau and Yuli, and the establishment of a medical college.

The Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, described the convocation as a significant milestone in the university's journey, stating that since her appointment in 2025, she had witnessed the dedication and resilience of the university community in advancing the institution.
