The Adedeji Scholarship Programme (TASP) 2027
The Adedeji Scholarship Programme (TASP) 2027 is now open for eligible Nigerian undergraduates who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership potential, and meaningful involvement in extracurricular or community based activities.
The scholarship is designed to recognise students who are committed to making an impact beyond the classroom while easing the financial burden associated with higher education.
Now in its 2027 cycle, TASP isn't just another tuition scholarship. It's designed specifically for students who blend academic excellence with curiosity that spills beyond the classroom. Here's a full breakdown of what it is, who qualifies, and how to apply.
About The Adedeji Scholarship Program (TASP) 2027
The Adedeji Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship initiative aimed at supporting exceptional students who demonstrate excellence in academics and active participation in enrichment activities.
Unlike many scholarships that rely strictly on academic performance, TASP looks at the general profile of each applicant. Students who have participated in volunteering, leadership programmes, research projects, entrepreneurship, advocacy, or other developmental activities stand a stronger chance during the selection process.
The scholarship is intended to reward students who are preparing themselves to become future leaders while reducing financial barriers to quality education.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive financial support to assist with their undergraduate education. Beyond the monetary award, recipients also gain recognition for their achievements and become part of a network of outstanding scholars committed to academic excellence and community impact.
The scholarship also encourages recipients to continue developing leadership skills, pursue innovation, and contribute positively to society. So you're getting
Full tuition and accommodation fees for one academic session
Renewable for one additional academic session, based on exceptional performance
Automatic acceptance into the 1 year ASP Scholars Fellowship, a mentorship and community building program for scholars
Eligibility Criteria
For the 2027 cycle, TASP is open to:
Currently enrolled 100–300 level students
Students studying within the Faculty of Economics, Social Science, and Arts
Applicants must be at the University of Ibadan
Applicants should demonstrate meaningful engagement in enrichment activities, whether on campus or off; this could be entrepreneurship, community volunteering, the arts, leadership roles, or other pursuits that show range beyond academics
Importantly, there's no mandatory minimum GPA. A strong academic record will strengthen an application, but it isn't a gatekeeping requirement; applications are reviewed holistically, meaning the full picture of who you are matters just as much as your grades.
Required Documents
To apply, you'll need to prepare the following:
A completed application form
An official transcript showing your current GPA (or your original JAMB result slip, if you're currently a 100 level student without a transcript yet)
A personal essay of no more than 250 words, responding to this prompt:
Share how your curiosity, passion, or interests have led you to pursue meaningful endeavours that may or may not align directly with your course of study. How do you plan to use that perspective in shaping your path after your studies, and what role do you see your current education playing in that journey?
Supporting evidence to strengthen your application; this could include certificates, portfolios, recommendation letters, proof of volunteer work, or documentation of any ventures or projects you've led
Suggestions for a Strong Essay
Since the essay is central to how applications are evaluated, keep these in mind:
Be specific. Vague statements about "loving to explore" won't stand out; concrete stories about what you've actually built, joined, or pursued will.
Connect the dots. The prompt isn't just asking what you've done outside your major; it's asking how that shapes where you're headed. Make that connection explicit.
Respect the word limit. At 250 words, every sentence needs to earn its place; cut anything that doesn't move your story forward.
Show, don't just tell. Instead of saying you're passionate about the arts, describe the play you helped produce or the mural project you led.
