The University of Calabar has suspended 19 students following recommendations by the Students Disciplinary Committee over alleged examination misconduct, with the senate's approval confirming the disciplinary action.

The suspension covers the 2025/2026 academic session. The affected students are expected to resume their studies in the 2026/2027 academic session, according to the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Mr Effiong Eyo.

The action was conveyed in a letter signed by the Director of Administration, Dr Citizen Ekpo, on behalf of the Registrar, Dr Chukwuka Icha, and was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Calabar.

Eyo confirmed that the university senate approved the committee's recommendations before the directive was issued. He said the affected students were drawn from various faculties, including Administration, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Arts, Education, Allied Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Environmental Sciences.

Others came from the Departments of Nursing Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Science Laboratory Technology, Estate Management, Marketing, and other related departments.

The university has directed all deans, heads of departments, and relevant units to enforce the suspension and ensure full compliance with the directive.
