Candidates who missed the regular West African Senior School Certificate Examination now have an opportunity to sit for the 2026 edition as the West African Examinations Council has opened registration for the WASSCE for Private Candidates, Second Series, with a closing date of Friday, July 31, 2026.

Registration commenced on Sunday, May 4, 2026, and will run for nearly three months, giving intending candidates sufficient time to complete the process. The examination will be conducted entirely in the computer based format, with 31 subjects available for candidates to choose from.

To register, candidates must obtain a Personal Identification Number and log on to www.waeconline.org.ng to complete the registration. WAEC noted that the registration procedure has been designed to accommodate biometric features, which will be used for validation at examination centres.

The non refundable registration fee is set at ₦37,000, payable at branches of designated banks, WAEC offices, or accredited agents. Intending candidates are advised to visit the council's corporate website at www.waecnigeria.org to confirm available examination towns and subjects before obtaining their PIN.
