Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has scheduled its Inaugural Lecture Series No. 04/26, titled "Feeding The Brain: How Your Daily Foods Shape Your Mind," for Wednesday, 29th July 2026.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Adamu Ahmed, has invited members of the academic community and the general public to the lecture, which will be held at 3:00 PM prompt at the Yusufu Bala Usman Hall, ABU Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria. Professor Ahmed will also chair the event.

The lecture will be delivered by Professor Nuhu Mohammed Danjuma of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, who holds the rank of Professor of Pharmacology at the Institution.

Professor Danjuma has previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at ABU, where he has urged graduating pharmacists to see their profession as one of service to humanity. His research work includes screening medicinal plants for therapeutic activity using Drosophila melanogaster, the fruit fly, as a laboratory model, an approach used in pharmacology to study how natural compounds affect biological systems before further clinical investigation.

For members of the public and academic community unable to attend physically, the University disclosed that the lecture will be streamed live through the official ABU YouTube channel, with updates also available on the Institution's social media handles.

Inaugural lectures at ABU form part of a long standing academic tradition through which senior Professors present findings from their research careers to the wider University community, with the lecture series numbering reflecting the cumulative record of such presentations delivered across the Institution's faculties over the years.

The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at ABU falls under the College of Medical Sciences, which works in collaboration with the Faculties of Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine on research spanning drug development and therapeutic science.

The University has not disclosed further details on the scope of the lecture beyond the topic and speaker announced, but confirmed that both physical and virtual attendance options remain open to interested members of the public ahead of Wednesday's event.
