Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), just like every university, requires students to pay school fees each academic session to cover tuition, registration, and other charges. These fees vary depending on your faculty, department, and whether you are a fresh or a returning student.

Paying on time is one of the most important steps to having a smooth academic session at COOU. The management has a rule for the 2025/2026 session that only students who have completed their school fees stand the chance to register for their course, take part in the hostel allocation, and sit for the session's examination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I pay my school fees in instalments?
A. COOU generally requires full payment of school fees at the beginning of the session.

Q. What is the deadline for school fees payment?
A. The deadline is usually 4to 6 weeks after the resumption of the semester. After this, a late registration fee of 20,000 Naira is applied.

Q. Do I need to pay school fees before course registration?
A. Yes, the portal is designed to "lock" the course registration module until a valid school fees receipt is generated and verified by the system.

Q. Do I pay school fees immediately after being admitted?
A. No, you must first pay the acceptance fee and complete your faculty clearance. Once cleared, the system will enable your school fees invoice.

Q. Can I change my course after paying school fees?
A. Changing courses after payment is highly complicated and often requires "Inter faculty transfer" approval. If approved, you may have to pay a "Difference in Fees" if the new course is more expensive.

Q. Can I pay my school fees at any bank?
A. Yes, as long as you have your printed invoice with the RRR number, any commercial bank in Nigeria can process the payment.

Q. Can I pay my fees before doing physical clearance?
A. It is not advised. If you pay fees and are later found ineligible during physical clearance, getting a refund is extremely difficult. Always get cleared by the faculty officer first.

Q. Is the Acceptance Fee part of the school fees?
A. No, the Acceptance Fee is a separate, non refundable payment to secure your admission. It does not count toward your tuition.

Q. What happens if I pay to the wrong RRR or account?
A. You must immediately visit the COOU Bursary department with proof of payment. Rectifying wrong payments involves a long administrative process.
