Eight students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State, have lost their places at the institution following convictions for examination malpractice, with the university's Senate ratifying the expulsions at its 30th regular meeting.
The decision was communicated in a letter signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr Eli Gbadufu, and made available to journalists in Lokoja. The letter traced the outcome to investigations conducted by the institution's Examination Misconduct Committee into violations recorded during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session.
Management confirmed that the affected students were found culpable following due process and in accordance with the university's academic policies as outlined in the Student Handbook, Page 33, Item 19.
The expelled students cut across multiple departments and levels. They are Ogedemgbe A. Nelson, 100 Level, Economics; Yakubu Abdulrazak Adavize, 300 Level, Library and Information Science; Olowu Samuel Ayomide, 200 Level, Mining Engineering; Usman Bilal, 400 Level, Information Technology; Adams Michael, 200 Level, Information Technology; Ale David, 200 Level, Mechanical Engineering; Habiba Muhammed, 100 Level, Business Administration; and Mustapha Faith Adetutu, 200 Level, Agricultural Science.
CUSTECH reaffirmed its zero tolerance stance on academic dishonesty, urging remaining students to conduct themselves in line with institutional rules. Management disclosed that the action was consistent with its commitment to preserving the credibility of its academic process and the value of its degrees.
The institution further described the expulsions as part of its broader determination to maintain discipline across all faculties as it consolidates its standing as Kogi State's premier science and technology university.
