Students seeking qualifications in health sciences and technology now have new options at Ekiti State College of Technology, Ijero Ekiti, after the National Board for Technical Education approved five new programmes and granted full accreditation to five existing ones at the Institution.

The approvals follow a resource inspection conducted by the NBTE on 9 and 10 December 2025, during which the Institution's facilities, staffing and instructional capacity were assessed. The outcome was communicated in a letter signed by Pharm Ibrahim Salihu, Acting Director of the Nursing and Health Sciences Programmes Department of the NBTE.

The five newly approved programmes, which the Institution may commence in the 2025/2026 academic session, are the National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, National Diploma in Orthopaedic Cast Technology, National Diploma in Health Education and Promotion, National Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology, and the Higher National Diploma in Networking and Cloud Computing.

Five existing programmes also received full accreditation from the board: the National Diploma in Dental Surgery, National Diploma in Dental Therapy, National Diploma in Community Health, National Diploma in Public Health Technology, and National Diploma in Paramedics.

Rector Dr Olufemi Olubamise described the approvals as a validation of the institution's investment in teaching quality and infrastructure, and commended the NBTE for its evaluation process.

For prospective students in Ekiti and surrounding states, the expanded programme list offers practical health and technology qualifications that are in direct demand across Nigeria's healthcare and digital sectors. The addition of Networking and Cloud Computing at the HND level is particularly timely given the growth of technology roles across the economy, while the new health programmes address an ongoing shortage of trained clinical support professionals in the country.
