Two Universities have jointly rejected claims circulating online that the Lagos State University Epe Campus has been taken over and converted into a federal institution, describing the reports as false and misleading.
In a joint statement signed on Tuesday by LASU Registrar Emmanuel Fanu and Federal University of Science and Technology Epe Registrar Kabiru Okugbesan, both Institutions confirmed that the Epe Campus remains fully operational under Lagos State University and that no conversion has taken place.
"This information is false. The LASU Epe Campus remains a fully functional campus of Lagos State University," the statement reads.
The institutions confirmed that FUSTECH Epe, a newly established Federal University, is currently sharing facilities at the LASU Epe Campus on an interim basis while awaiting relocation to its permanent site. Both universities stressed that the arrangement does not alter the ownership, governance, or academic structure of either institution.
"LASU, in the spirit of collaboration and partnership, has agreed to share some of its facilities and infrastructure at the Epe campus on an interim basis to support FUSTECH's smooth take off," the statement noted.
According to both registrars, the LASU Epe Campus continues to host the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, School of Agriculture, Pre Degree Programme, Sandwich Degree Programme, and several research centres. Academic operations at the campus remain intact and unchanged.
The statement urged parents, prospective students, and members of the public to disregard the viral claims and rely solely on official communications from both institutions.
"Please note that Lagos State University, Epe Campus, has not been converted into Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe," the statement emphasised.
Both universities reaffirmed their commitment to academic excellence and transparent communication with stakeholders.
