Nigeria's foremost student body has thrown its weight behind the appointment of Professor Samuel Oladipupo as substantive Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, pledging partnership with his administration while tying its support to the protection of student welfare.
The National Association of Nigerian Students, through its National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adeyemi Samson Ajasa, described the appointment as a recognition of Oladipupo's academic pedigree and administrative competence, and a defining moment for the institution.
"Your emergence signifies a renewed sense of direction and reinforces confidence in the capacity of the Institution to attain greater heights in academic innovation, institutional stability, and governance excellence," Ajasa stated.
The association expressed confidence that the new Vice Chancellor's experience would open a progressive era at the Ogun State Institution. "The NANS National Secretariat holds a firm conviction that your extensive experience and deep Institutional knowledge will usher in a progressive era characterised by transparency, accountability, and sustainable development," he added.
NANS further described TASUED as a foremost institution dedicated to teacher education in Nigeria, and expressed optimism that Oladipupo's leadership would strengthen its standing. "We are optimistic that your leadership will further strengthen TASUED's reputation as a citadel of learning and a model for educational advancement in the country," Ajasa noted.
The body pledged full cooperation with the incoming administration, while making clear the conditions attached to its support. "We are committed to fostering a constructive and mutually beneficial partnership aimed at ensuring industrial harmony, uninterrupted academic activities, and the holistic development of the student body," he disclosed.
NANS tied its backing firmly to student centred governance. "Our support, however, remains firmly anchored on the continuous prioritisation of student welfare, protection of students' rights, and the promotion of an inclusive academic environment," Ajasa stated.
The association expressed anticipation of a transformative tenure, one it described as student focused and globally competitive, with an enduring legacy in the Institution's history.
