Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved the release of N18 million in transportation support for 1,807 National Youth Service Corps members completing the 2026 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course, with each corps member receiving N10,000 cash.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the orientation course held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kogi State. The governor was represented by his deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu.
Salifu praised the Corps members for their conduct during the three week orientation, describing the discipline, teamwork, and patriotism they displayed as strong indicators of a productive service year. He urged them to remain law abiding and integrate peacefully with their host communities, noting that such conduct would earn them acceptance and support throughout their posting.
The deputy governor also encouraged corps members to take advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme by participating in post camp trainings designed to build practical skills and reduce unemployment. He charged them to uphold discipline, unity, loyalty and peaceful coexistence as they proceed to their places of primary assignment across the state.
The Kogi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and welfare of corps members, assuring them of adequate protection of lives and property across the state.
State NYSC Coordinator Chris Moneke Chika Tochi congratulated the corps members on completing the orientation and advised them to accept their postings peacefully, remain security conscious, and engage actively with the SAED programme. She also acknowledged the Kogi State Government for repairing damaged camp facilities and providing welfare support for the 1,807 corps members throughout the orientation period.
The delegation accompanying the deputy governor included the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Hilary Ojoma Egwudah, the Director General of Kogi State Community Watch and Ancillary Matters, Hon. Muhammed Nasiru Alfa, the Special Adviser on Environment and Civil Service Matters, Hon. Aboh Ibrahim, and Hon. Alilu Yakubu.
