Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has appointed Dr Stanley Uzochukwu, Harvard executive trained entrepreneur and Chairman of Stanel Group, as Chairman of its Advancement Management Board, signalling a deliberate push to inject private sector dynamism into the institution's growth and global positioning.

The appointment was announced at an inauguration ceremony held at the UNIZIK Business School Hall, where the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ugochukwu Anyaehie, expressed strong confidence in the newly constituted board and highlighted Dr Uzochukwu's track record in business innovation and Institutional development as central to the University's ambitions. Dr Uzochukwu, widely known as STANEL, previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of the UNIZIK Business School, a role he assumed in October 2021, making his elevation to the Advancement Management Board a recognition of deepening institutional trust.

Beyond UNIZIK, Dr. Uzochukwu holds board positions across Nigeria's corporate and academic landscape, and is recognized as one of the youngest board members at Igbinedion University Okada, a distinction that reflects his growing influence in higher education governance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Uzochukwu framed his appointment in terms that went beyond ceremonial commitment. "Great Institutions are not sustained by history alone; intentional people propel them," he said, adding, "I come with a responsibility to bring strategic thinking, bold partnership, and a relentless drive for excellence."

For a University with UNIZIK's academic heritage and national standing, the appointment of a Harvard trained business leader to head its Advancement Management Board is more than a personnel decision. It is a statement that the Institution intends to compete not just on academic reputation but on the strength of the strategic partnerships and private sector relationships that increasingly determine a university's relevance in a rapidly changing world.
