Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has approved the payment of allowances and stipends to National Youth Service Corps members currently serving across the state, covering multiple batches from Batch A Stream I and II through to Batch C Stream I and II.
The approval was announced in a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, who described the decision as a reflection of the administration's commitment to the welfare of corps members contributing to development across various sectors in Zamfara State.
Dantawasa stated that through the gesture, the state government recognised and appreciated the patriotism, dedication and selfless service being rendered by the young graduates in education, healthcare, agriculture and other areas critical to the growth and progress of the state.
Governor Lawal has directed the Office of the Accountant General to put in place all necessary arrangements to facilitate the implementation of the approval. "The government is committed to ensuring that the process is carried out smoothly and in accordance with established procedures," the statement noted.
The commissioner added that the Zamfara State Government remained grateful to the corps members for choosing to serve in the state and for their contributions to community development. He said the administration would continue to prioritise initiatives aimed at supporting corps members and creating an enabling environment for them to discharge their national responsibilities effectively.
The approval spans corps members across several service batches, signalling a structured effort by the Lawal administration to clear outstanding welfare obligations to youth corps members deployed to the state. NYSC members serve in Zamfara across critical public service areas, including education and healthcare, sectors where the state has continued to rely on the contributions of young graduates to bridge workforce gaps.
