A scholarship programme targeting 1,000 indigent but academically gifted Nigerian youths in technology will open applications on Monday, April 27, 2026, after organisers postponed the original April 22 launch date to complete final technical enhancements to the portal.
The programme, driven by the Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation in collaboration with TD Africa, Konga Group, Zinox Technologies and Task Systems, will fund selected candidates to study Computer Science at federal universities across Nigeria. The initiative was first announced on February 22, 2026, when Zinox Group Chairman Leo Stan Ekeh marked his 70th birthday and chose to direct resources toward youth empowerment rather than personal celebration.
Beyond tuition funding, beneficiaries will receive mentorship from members of the Nigerian Computer Society, technical support and industry exposure designed to equip recipients with practical, market-relevant skills. Organisers said the selection process will be merit-driven, inclusive and transparent, with candidates drawn from across Nigeria's diverse regions.
Ekeh, widely regarded as a pioneer of indigenous computer manufacturing in Nigeria through Zinox Technologies, has trained 6,709 beneficiaries across four decades through his companies. He stated at the launch that the goal of the scholarship is to build a new generation of skilled technology professionals capable of supporting both the private and public sectors while strengthening Nigeria's position in the global digital economy.
Interested applicants are advised to visit Konga.com and click the Foundation banner on the 1,000 Tech Scholarships Awards section, where the application link and participation guidelines will be published on April 27.
Organisers noted that the brief delay from the original launch date was necessitated by the need to ensure a seamless, secure and transparent application experience for prospective candidates nationwide.
