Basically, the NOUN admission list shows who got in; these are the names of applicants the university has offered provisional admission to. Schools usually put out these lists once they finish screening all the applications.

How to Check NOUN Admission Status on the School Portal
If you took part in the NOUN admissions exercise, the list of candidates who got provisional admission into the undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 session is now online.
Visit https://nou.edu.ng/
Click on âAdmission Statusâ.
Enter your JAMB registration number or application ID.
Click âCheck Admission Statusâ.
Print the admission letter (if admitted).
How to Check NOUN Admission Status on JAMB CAPS
First, log in to your JAMB profile using your username and password.
Scroll down until you see the âCheck Admission Statusâ tab and click it.
Pick your exam year, type in your registration number, and click on âCheck Admission Statusâ again.
If you followed the steps above, you have been able to view your admission status successfully.
How to Apply for the NOUN 2026/2027
Make sure you meet all the requirements for the course you want. Hereâs how to apply to NOUN:
Start by registering on JAMB CAPS
Head over to the nearest JAMB office and apply for NOUN regularisation.
Once youâve sorted out the regularisation, open the NOUN admission portal at https://www.nouonline.nou.edu.ng/
Click on the Admission menu.
Choose âApply for Admissionâ.
The system will ask if youâve checked the requirements for your chosen programme. Click âYesâ to move on.
Youâll need to pay through Remita, so follow the displayed instructions carefully.
After your Remita payment goes through, youâll end up back on the NOUN portal.
Log in with your password and fill out the online application form.
Verify everything before you hit submit.
Now, head over to your JAMB CAPS dashboard and check your âAdmission Status". It might take a while for your admission to show up, so keep checking in.
Finally, go to your chosen NOUN study centre and complete your registration with your JAMB admission letter.
Keep your RRR number handy, just in case your payment doesn't go through.
NOUN Admission Requirements 2026/2027
The National Open University of Nigeria is now taking applications for the 2026/2027 academic calendar year.
Hereâs what you need to know: whether youâre going for a degree, a masterâs, or a PhD, you must have at least five O-Level credits, including English and maths. Also, remember to complete the NOUN regularisation on JAMB CAPS during your application.
NOUN Requirements for Undergraduates 2026/2027
If youâre applying as an undergraduate, hereâs what you need to put together:
A birth certificate or a declaration of age.
You must provide both the original and photocopies of your academic documents. That means O-level results, and if you have them, ND, NCE, HND, or your first degree certificates.
Your NOUN admission letter.
Proof that youâve paid your school fees through Remita.
Academic certificates and transcripts.
NYSC certificate, but only if it applies to you.
At least five passport photos.
Professional certificates, if you have any.
Any licences or certificates your programme needs. For example:
Public Health: CHO or CHEW certificate
Nursing: Registered Nurse licence
Environmental Health: Registered Midwifery or Medical Laboratory licence
NOUN Requirements for Master's Degree 2026/2027
You need at least five O-level credits, including English and mathematics, from no more than two sittings.
If youâre Nigerian, you have to show your NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
To get into the PGD programme, youâll need a bachelor's degree with at least a second class lower or an HND in a related field.

If you want to study law, youâll need an LLM or MPhil with at least 60% or a 4.00 CGPA on a 5.00 scale.
If your CGPA is at least 3.50, you can go for a PhD or MPhil in a related field.
You must have a masterâs degree with at least a 4.00 CGPA on a 5.00 scale, either from NOUN or any university approved by the Senate.
Be ready for an interview. Every PhD applicant has to pass an oral or written interview.
