UNIJOS released the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 academic session, and we have provided all the necessary details you will need for both new and returning students.
The UNIJOS resumption date marks the beginning of lectures, registrations, and other activities, so having that knowledge helps you plan. Keep on reading below.
Resumption Dates for New and Returning Students
New and returning students don’t all show up at the same time. The school spreads out its arrival to keep things manageable. Freshers start online registration on Monday, November 17, 2025, so they can handle paperwork and pay fees before they even step on campus.Â
Returning students are to start their registration a week later, starting on Monday, November 24, 2025. Everyone officially got back to lectures on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Then came a short Christmas break, from Monday, December 22, 2025, to Friday, January 2, 2026. After that, classes picked up again on Monday, January 5, 2026, giving everyone a fresh start after the holidays.
Classes for the second semester start on Monday, April 20, 2026. If there’s a strike, public holiday, or something unexpected, the date could change. Sure, there have been delays in the past, but lately, UNIJOS has done a solid job keeping the schedule on track.
Registration Procedures for New and Returning Students
At UNIJOS, you handle registration online through the university’s official portal. It’s all pretty straightforward; just log in and get it done right from your own device.
For New Students
Before you pay any fees, make sure your name is on the admission list, and you’ve accepted your admission on the JAMB CAPS portal and printed your JAMB Admission Letter.
Next, head over to the UNIJOS Portal at https://portal.unijos.edu.ng/ and log in. There, you’ll generate your Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) so you can pay your school charges.
Once you’ve sorted out the payment, fill in your biodata forms and register for your first semester courses.
And don’t forget, if you’re a new student, bring your original documents (like your O-Level results and birth certificate) to your faculty boardroom for physical Post UTME screening.
For Returning Students
If you’re coming back this semester, make sure you pay your school fees and sign up for your classes on time. Miss the deadline, and you’ll have to pay a late fee.
Important Guidelines for Students
Want your campus experience in 2025/2026 to go smoothly? Here’s what you need to know:
The university opens the hostel application portal not long after new students arrive, and rooms go to whoever applies first. Freshers and final years get first dibs. If you want a bed, don’t wait around.
All new students need to complete a medical checkup at the University Health Services Centre.Â
Stay alert on campus and report anything weird or suspicious straight to the University Security Division. Better safe than sorry.
